To unite the Macedonian and Persian cultures, Alexander the Great held a series of mass weddings in the Persian City of Susa (Iran) in 324 BC.

They were called the Susa Weddings.

During the weddings, he merged his army officers with his enemies' daughters.

It functioned as a powerful gesture of unity and merges two cultures.
