How To Stand Out In Any Crowd
To quote the great, late Earl Nightingale:
“Whatever the majority of people are doing, under any given circumstance, if you do the exact opposite, you will probably never make a mistake as long as you live.”
If the mainstream media tells you that the earth is round - you’re safe to assume that the world is flat.
Jokes aside.
This may very well be the fastest way to build an outstanding brand, project, or company, that gets noticed, followed, and most importantly bought from.
This goes hand in hand with the Purple Cow Methodology from Seth Godin. (we’re not going to explain that one here).
Let me give you some examples of this…
* If all your competition is giving value for free - charge for it.
* If everybody in your market is all over social media - have zero social media presence.
* If every web3 community is on Discord - switch the platform to something weird, and unknown.
* If your competition has a million ways to reach them - have only way (or even better zero) ways to talk to you.
Starting to get it… ?
In a market where everybody is doing the same thing, fighting for the same cake, do the exact opposite to stand out.
Most people won’t have the balls for this.
Let’s look at some real-life case studies.
* Moonbirds mint for 2.5ETH, while everybody was minting for 0.06ETH.
* NeoTokyo Free Mint, while everybody was minting for 0.4ETH.
* When Discord communities started to be closed instead of open.
So as Dan Kennedy describes it “Defy industry norms at every opportunity”.
Make your competitors follow you - not the other way around.
Yes, it takes some creativity and intelligence. But you’re a Lean Mfer after all…
The best way to do this is to list all the things that are considered “the norm” in your industry. And then start doing the exact opposite.
Have fun.

P.S: Here are three reasons why you shouldn’t doxx as a web3 founder (even if everybody tells you to do so).
