Make Money Like a Cancer Surgeon 

In a world where hiring employees is cool.

Getting your first physical office is a milestone.

And how many likes you got on Linkedin is a sign of success.

I want to present a new way of looking at business.

It’s called the GEICO method. It’s originally from Charlie Mounger, I will slightly adapt it to suit the message.

The GEICO method is a medical intervention used when treating organs with cancerous cells.

Instead of letting the patient die, or treating the organ with radiation, doctors look at the organ and say “How much of this organ can we possibly remove, while still remaining life function?”

In other words: how much can you cut out - without killing the patient?

Now let’s apply this principle to business.

I want you to look at your venture and really ask yourself - what is the core life function that I have here?

What is the main thing that is generating ALL the profit?

What is giving me ALL the results?

And how much of the other lousy stuff can I cut out?

How many people can I fire, and how many costs can I reduce - while still having a business that functions perfectly fine?

The result of this (you probably know this but still)

1- More focus on the things that make you money (so more money)

2- Less wasted energy on things that don’t make money (more energy)

MBA Bros call this the 80/20 rule - I call it the “Lean Mfer Operation”.

Make sure you sanitize your hands before you start getting your hands dirty.
