Intentionally Messing Up Launches
DeGods has been making headlines for the past weeks for messing up the art reveal of their DeGods III and the daily fud.
The reason for all the drama?
A poorly executed launch.
No. We’re not going to talk about how you can satisfy all of your holders and how you can remain fud-free in Web3. Small hint: You can’t.
Rather…
We talk about the power of intentionally messing up something.
If DeGods III had gone great and smoothly, everybody would have moved on, and said “Ok, now DeGods IV will need to be a total game-changer.”
Instead…. The project got billions of free impressions by holders fudding, Frank making fun of them, and the project announcing a change in the roadmap.
To quote Frank DeGods from a conversation with Kevin Rose on the PROOF podcast: “The name of the game in NFTs is capturing attention.”
And they did exactly that…
Messing up the launch of their new generation, gave them the world’s most valuable resource for free.
Attention.
Remember the reveal of the Tesla Truck in which Elon Musk broke the Window of the Cybertruck with an ironball while demonstrating how tough they are?
